You’ll hear me talk about social media strategy all the time. But why? Well, because without one, there’s no point even trying to cut it on social media.
I recently jump on TickerTv’s Brand Builders to talk all things social media strategy. You see, trying to grow your brand on social media without a strategy is like trying to make a chocolate cake without flour; sure, it’s possible, but it’s probably going to leave a bad taste in your mouth and most people won’t come back for seconds.
Not hungry? How about another metaphor? Think of planning your social media strategy like booking your accommodation for a holiday. If you want, you can jump on a plane without booking anything in advance, rocking up, and seeing what you can get. You might get lucky and find something, but most likely, you’re going to end up sleeping on someone’s floor, and it’s going to be a whole lot more work.
You can see what I’m getting at here, right? Social media strategy is all about planning. But it’s not just about planning so you know where you’re going; it’s also about planning so you can look back on where you went wrong. In the competitive world of social media, learning from your mistakes is just as important in celebrating your successes.
When you start planning your social media strategy, you may feel a little bit lost. There are so many routes you can take, and you won’t know which one to go down until you, well, go down it. Sure, there are steps you can take to decide with you should go down first, but you have to leave room in your strategy to take a few risks, make mistakes, and discover what doesn’t work for your business.
If you’re feeling a little overwhelmed by it all, I’d love to help you out. I offer customised social media training and workshops focused on what your business needs.
