Anyone can succeed at social media. I know it’s true because I’ve seen it, time and time again.
It just takes someone to demystify it for you – explaining it in plain language (rather than baffling you with gobbledegook) and giving you the tools, tips and tricks you need to win.
And that’s what I do. I’m really a social media educator.
It’s my job to stay ahead of the curve, know the technology and trends coming down the line, understand what they mean for the way we live our lives and do business, and then help you to not only prepare for them but to come out on top.
But how did I get here?
A lifetime’s expertise in technology, marketing and social
I’ve been obsessed with computers and technology since I was a kid growing up in Texas.
I was lucky. We had a computer in the house from the late 1980s onwards. I was obsessed. While most kids would have been happy playing Tetris, I learned to code. It was a sign!
After studying marketing at university, I moved to Perth by accident in 2002. (I came on a backpacking holiday, fell in love with the place, and never really left!)
I’ve been driving the social media and digital communications conversation in Australia for more than a decade.
In 2013 I started #SMPerth, Western Australia’s biggest community for like-minded people who are passionate about digital communication.
Then, in 2018, I founded State of Social, Australia’s largest digital marketing conference – bringing some of the world’s best digital and social media minds Down Under.
I’m a speaker, workshop facilitator and media commentator
My leadership in the digital and social space has led to many media appearances, including regular spots on radio 6PR in Perth and on Channel Nine. I now provide commentary on a wide range of topics beyond digital – from election campaigns to Hollywood gossip.
While I’m a speaker, workshop facilitator and media commentator, I’m also still “on the tools” every day, helping businesses get results. It’s really this “day job” – running my own tourism and hospitality specialist social media marketing agency, Coffey & Tea – that gives me a front-row seat to see how businesses are using social and digital.
Believe me, I’ve seen the very best of it, and the very worst of it. That has made me passionate about sharing my knowledge with audiences across the country and around the world.
