Instagram the TikTok Clone

12 August 2022 5:09 pm

Meta is turning Instagram into a TikTok clone, and it’s not good news for the average user or small business.

Unless you’ve been living under a digital rock, you’ve likely seen the new Instagram update. How has the update been received? Well, let’s say… not great.

Panicking at the stranglehold TikTok has achieved in such a short time, especially with Gen Z users, the Meta team has decided to give Instagram a very TikTok-esque facelift.

If there’s one thing people don’t like on social media, it’s a massive change. The backlash to the update has been overwhelming, with Kylie Jenner even getting in on the action, and we all remember what Kylie Jenner did to Snapchat back in 2018, right?

But this new update isn’t just bad news for people who want to see pictures of their family, friends, and pets; it’s terrible for small businesses that rely on the platform.

I have so much to say about the new update, and that’s why I jumped at the chance to share my thoughts with the good people over at SmartCompany. If you haven’t already, check out my entire opinion piece for SmartCompany below!
