Trivago found guilty of misleading and deceptive conduct over price promotions.

The Federal Court has found online travel site Trivago guilty of misleading and deceptive conduct.

The hotel comparison site has been advertising what it claimed were the cheapest deals, but they were actually those generating the highest commissions.

I had a chat with Gavin Coote at The World Today on ABC Radio about the impact of this finding, and whether this is just the beginning of similar claims.

Australia’s consumer watchdog says it hopes this judgement will send a strong message to companies misleading their customers — but some aren’t so optimistic.
