I recently had the privilege of giving a keynote presentation at the WA Distillers Guild Conference.
It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with an audience that’s crafting and reshaping an industry from the inside out, and I was thrilled to bring my passion for digital marketing to the room.
Standing Out in a Noisy World
With social media transforming our world into a constant stream of information, cutting through the noise is no small feat. I was blunt with the audience: “Your content could use some work.” And that’s okay—it’s about celebrating the craft with stories that resonate. People are keen for content that means something, not just another product post.
Getting Social Right
We covered a big one: social media isn’t just an add-on; it’s an extension of the brand. For distillers, social can showcase their journey, the care they pour into each bottle, and the people behind it all. We explored the why behind sharing, and I challenged everyone to ask, “Does anyone care about what I’m saying?”
Smart Hashtags and Staying Authentic
Using hashtags smartly is vital. We discussed the importance of blending popular, niche, and branded tags to reach not just anyone but the right people. Optimising before scaling is key—social media is all about testing what resonates and then amplifying it.
Above all, a brand’s personality is its superpower. Consistency is everything: staying authentic, sticking to a theme, and avoiding constant product push. The aim should be to show people why they love your brand, not just tell them.
Final Takeaways
This was an inspiring event, with creators as unique as their spirits. I hope attendees left ready to elevate their brands in the digital space and tell stories that stick.
Thanks, WA Distillers Guild—this keynote presentation was a pleasure!
