What’s trending this week? Find out as Managing Director Meg Coffey gives her social media roundup on Saturday Nights with Tony McManus on 6PR.

Customer service has been important for a long time now, but now because of social media it is a lot easier for us to voice our opinion. “You’re not just a little person and they’re the BIG man anymore.”

Managing your customer service through social media can be challenging but it’s something that needs to be timely and ‘right away’. Whether it’s a good or bad issue, if you give the customer the attention that they want then you can solve so many issues before they become too large for you to manage.

Big announcements for twitter this week – they have announced that they will be removing the 140 character limit from private messages. From a customer service point of view it makes responding a whole lot easier.

On the flip side, anyone can now message you with an unlimited character limit and Twitter has been accused of essentially being a ‘message app’.
Facebook algorithms change once again… ‘What you read and how much time you spend reading it’ is the latest change to be added to the ever changing algorithm that manages what we see on our news feeds.

“Facebook’s algorithm is one of the great wonders of the modern world” – Facebook has now realised that perhaps the time that you spend reading things provides more insight in what content you want to see, compared to a 10 second cat video that has millions of comments saying “cute!”

Technology coming full circle: Books replaced tablets 1000 years ago, but now we have reverted back to tablets? Now we can have thousands of electronic books loaded on to a tablet device and read them just as easily.
